l have read opposing views about this online.Some sources say you should not.Some sources say the the combo might actually make the SSRl work better.?Anyone know of any dangers this may pose to one is health?
Is it dangerous to take supplimental Phenylalanine with a SSRI such as Zoloft
The reason why u should not take supplemental Phenylalanine with a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor such as Zoloft (Sertraline) is that Phenylalanine uses the same transport channel as Tryptophan, which is an amino acid precursor for Serotonin.
If you're taking Zoloft for depression & anxiety, I think it would be better if u discontinue any kind of other drug or supplement in order to let Sertraline act properly & discover if it is the right drug for u (unfortunately the response of a psychotropic drug is very personal).

I checked in ''The PDR (Physician is Desk Reference) Pocket Guide to Prescription Drugs''. Zoloft was not mentioned., but check with doc.
