How much ibuprofen can I safely take

4oo mg 3 times per day or 600 mg the same time

800mg is the max dose in an 8 hour period. Any more than that does not help any more and it just eats your stomache lining. But take two and see if that helps, if it does not take three your next dose and then four if that does not help. You do not want to overkill. Feel better!

This really depends on ur tolerence to the meds. I was in a collegiate marching band & had severe knee & ankle pain & I was told I could take as much as 1200mg 2X a day. I never got past that though. i had a fairly large tolerence for ibruprofin at that point (had bad cramping every month for YEARS so built it up). for reference, 1200mg was 1.5 800 mg motrins. The 800 mg types r prescription. I would say start off with taking no more than 3 or 4 regular strength at a time, & talk to ur doctor about the 800 mg versions.

Before u start taking this drug, please check with ur doctor or a pharmacist to see if there r any possible interactions that could occur between the muscle relaxers & the ibuprofen.

at one point I was given 800mg and the doc told me I could only take 3 within a 24 hour period so my guess would be 2400mg.

800 mg is prescription strength but you should not take it for long periods of time because it is a form of aspirin it can cause bleeding ulcers.

I would not take that dose more than a couple days without talking to my doctor first.

800mg every 6-8 hours.It comes in that strenth as a prescription but you can take 4 200mg tablets.Just watch out for stomach irritation.

That could only be answered safely by your doctor. You have to make sure there is no interaction with the muscle relaxers. And could your system withstand the irritation that ibuprofen can cause?

My doctor always tells me to take 4 of the 200 mg pills (that is the dosage pills I have at home). He says that is the safest amount to take in one dosage. It really helps with mild arthritis!
