l reached my weight loss goal and am 170lbs. Now l am working out to gain lean muscle, so l cut down my cardio to 3 days instead of 5 and have intensified my weight lifting. That causes a lot of soreness and taking a Ibuprofen (800 mg) makes a whole world of a difference as it allows me to sleep without pain and wake up feeling good. Is it bad to take one every night?

Is it bad to take a Ibuprofen every night

Yes, prolonged use of ibuprophen is linked to health problems such as bleeding stomach ulcers, gastritis, & even some heart issues. Are u alternating what muscle groups u work on every day? Like work upper body today, lower body tomorrow? If not, you're probably have some repetitive motion injuries by not letting ur muscles recouperate. You also need at least one day per week with no work out to allow ur body to rest. I reccomend that u trim down ur weight lifting to the point u were before u ramped it up. Then, start very slowly intensifying ur workout: week one add one rep to every set, week two add one pound of weight, week three add another rep, etc. This will help u slowly gain muscle safely. In the meantime, try icing ur sore muscles (15 minutes on, 15 minutes off) before going to bed. You can even alternate ice with a heating pad, or use a non-asprin sports cream.

BTW, it is tylenol, not ibuprofen, that causes liver problems.

i've been told taking ibuprofen all the time can eat the lining of your stomache.that it was not good to take all the time.my childrens doctor told me not to give my kids childrens motrin which is just like ibuprofen all the time because of that..that is why they tell u to switch between motrin and tylonole.

If you read the bottle, it is not bad to take one every night, assuming you do not take any others during the day. Just follow the dosage indicated.

High doses of ibuprofen can be hard on your liver after a while, esp. if you drink (which is also hard on your liver). You might be pushing the weights a little to hard and need to back off a little b/c I do not think you should be in that much pain unless you just started the working out w/ weights.

yeah, why would u take it every night & if u knew a little more about exercise not to be sarcastic or anything u would know u get sore because when u exerise really hard & it gets sore while ur doing it is because u get little tiny tears in ur muscle & when that happens u rest a day the soreness goes away & those tears were healed & new muscle built over them u need to take rest days its not good to take buprofen everynight its pretty bad for u & especialy at such a high doseage
