Drugs will affect Vicodin:

- antidepressants such as amitriptyline (Elavil, Etrafon), clomipramine (Anafranil), imipramine (Janimine, Tofranil), & others;
- an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate);

This list is not complete & there may be other drugs that can interact with Vicodin. Tell ur doctor about all the prescription & over-the-counter medications u use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, & drugs prescribed by other doctors.

You should stick with Ibuprofen. If you have an actual migraine issue, though, you need to get treated by an MD for real migraine meds if they are ongoing. Vicodin can cause a rebound issue, meaning, that once the pain relief effect wears off, it will bounce back stronger. Ibuprofen has an antinflammatory action which helps it work more effectively.
So, listen to your friend.

Narcotics for migraines can really cause u more pain then it is worth. It might help when u take it, but it can cause an even worse headache later. If u r taking a lot of over the counter pain meds for headaches & still having them, u could be having 'rebound headaches' The advil makes it better by shrinking the blood vessels in ur brain- reducing the pain, then when the advil wears off the blood vessels dialate & cause another or worse headache. Try drinking a lot of water instead.
