my doctor had me go down from 50mg and bumped down to 25mg.

its day 5 on 25mg. no severe symptoms. just a headache, weird vision, and l just feel a little ''off''.

how long should these symptoms last before l level off and feel normal again and go down another dose?

How long does zoloft wthdrawal last

Zoloft is half-life is listed as 26hrs, with the typical ONSET of withdrawal occurring Day 3-5 after a dose drop (ref. Glenmullen).

So at Day 5, most people would be feeling the start of Zoloft withdrawal. If u give yourself 3-6 weeks to adjust at this level, then hopefully the symptoms should have peaked & faded - if they don't, or they increase, then that'd indicate too big a drop. Once stable, it is time to consider another drop.

If u have a good read around u will find that not letting the body adjust, seems to result in people getting swiftly off the drug with a short taper. but often being represcribed by month 3-6 due to the 'crash' that followed.

Zoloft has a half-life of about one day. That means that for every day that passes without taking the medication the level in the blood falls by 50%. After one day the level is reduced to 50% of the original level, after two days to 25%, after three days to 12.5%, & so on.

When one stops Zoloft too rapidly a withdrawal syndrome may develop. Among the symptoms that may be experienced r nausea, tremors, lightheadedness, muscle pains, weakness, insomnia, & anxiety. The withdrawal symptoms usually last 1-2 weeks but in some instances they may gradually decrease over a period as long as a month. It is generally recommended that one taper off this medication gradually under a doctor is supervision. Check with ur own personal physician for specific instructions.
