This would be for a police background check.l took one because l strained my hamstring and we were out of ibuprofen and it was late.l did get some over the counter stuff the next day.
It is not for a drug test, but disclosure to the question of past drug use.
And would this disqualify me if it was only 1 1/2 years ago?

Would taking one of wife's 800 mg Ibuprofen be considered drug use

No. I am an old exjock who was in a bunch of car and motorcycle wrecks; I have a candy dish filled with Advil and I've passed drug tests.

no, its ibuprofen not vicodin's. You can buy ibuprofen over the counter. Sure, not that strengh but you can take 4 and it would add up to that amount. Geez, do not be so paranoid and precise any thing could be considered drug use, coffee is a drug it has caffeine .They mean real drugs

Technically, yes. It would be classified as taking another persons prescribed medications, which would be the same as if u would have taken one of her Hydrocodone or Oxycontin tablets. It may or may not have a big impact on the background check, but I would be honest with the investigators, & make them aware of the circumstances by which u took the meds.

To expand on this for the people who do not get it.. It is not what the content of the medication that he has taken that is at issue, it is the fact that Ibuprofen, in an 800 MG tablet, is only available with a doctors prescription. If u took 4 of the 200 mg tablets, which r over the counter, u get the same effect, which is obvious. But taking someone elses prescription is illegal, there is no denying it.

Taking a couple Motrin IB is which is a product you can buy over the counter is the equivalent of a perscription Motrin just a lower dose. It would not be a concern if found in a drug test.

Yes & no.
All u would have to say is I took 4 advil which equals 800mg ibuphrophen.because its the same exact thing.
But if u told someone u took her prescription 800mg then that would be illegal.
But honestly a drug screen would not show ibuphrophen anyways, if thats what u r talking about.i use to be a certified drug screener-the hospital where i worked had a contract with the local police department-to screen officers & city employees. So I definately know what im talking about so dont give it another thought!

Technically yes; u broke the law. Ibuprofen is available over the counter I believe to 100 mg. Higher doeses in the same tablet r only available by perscription. FDA regulations require u to be under a doctor is care. This would be no difference than boiling up some cold tablets - or would it? They're over the counter.

Now chemically u could have taken eight 100mg tablets & got the same dose. You would have failed to follow the dosage instructions & the drug company would not have been liable for any adverse effects.

In my mind honesty is the best policy. No one expects anyone to be perfect (hey, u were in pain);but we do expect our cops to be honest & trustworthy & u must confrom to a higher standard than us mere civilians. Perhaps when u finish ur training & r enforcing laws u can use a lilttle discretion in enforcing some of our sillier statutes.

Not really, since you can take 4 tablets of the over the counter stuff and it would be the same thing.

no it is just a stronger version of the over the counter stuff

I would not consider it but technically, yes it is. If the script was in her name it is not transferable. It makes no difference if the drug is found OTC in a lower strength. A prescription is for that person only and it is illegal to give it to someone else, no matter what the drug is. Something like that I think they would laugh it off. Tell the truth and they will think you have a lot of integrity.

Would taking one of wife's 800 mg Ibuprofen be considered drug use

No, it really the same thing as Tylenol or Motrin.

Would taking one of wife's 800 mg Ibuprofen be considered drug use

No, because i think they are talking about illegal drugs and drug abuse.

Ibuprofen is legal. Sometimes a doctor directs a person to take more than the regular dose. I do not know why it would be on a police background check.

should not have any affect on the drug test. If they say something be honest to them and tell them what happend

Ibuprofen is the same as Motrin. It not considered an illegal drug.
