Hello everyone, l was just put on Zoloft for anxiety disorder. l have not been on it very long. My question is has anyone that is on Zoloft experience weight gain and how does a antidepressant cause weight gain if it does have that affect on people? Thanks you.

The medication Zoloft causing weight gain

Zoloft is a medication for depression & anxiety. If u do not have depression u may want to speak to ur psychiatrist about just taking an ant-anxiety medication alone. Most antidepressants do cause an increase in appetite which causes weight gain. This is not deliberate it is just the make up of the medications. There r antidepressants that do not cause weight gain. You should speak to ur psychiatrist about one of them. Nobody but ur doctor can recommend which medication is right for you. Anti-anxiety medications do not cause an increase in ur appetite. Also some antidepressants will work on others but may not for you. If after 4 weeks u do not feel that yours is helping u it is time for a change. I hope that helped u Sweet Pea!
